Kate Winslet has nothing but niceties for her director Woody Allen’s portrayal of women even as his daughter, Dylan Farrow, calls out stars like Winslet for their enduring support.

“I think on some level Woody is a woman,” Winslet joked to the Sydney Morning Herald.

“I just think he’s very in touch with that side of himself. He understands the female characters he creates exceptionally well. His female characters are always so rich and large and honest in terms of how they’re feeling and he just knows how to write dialogue for them to communicate all that.”

Winslet is the latest female star to front an Allen flick with the upcoming “Wonder Wheel.”

But her defense of the controversial director has earned her critics including Allen’s own daughter Dylan Farrow, who alleged in 2014 that he sexually assaulted her starting when she was 7 years old.

Farrow penned an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times Thursday slamming actresses like Winslet and Greta Gerwig for standing by Allen despite the sexual assault accusations, particularly as the #MeToo movement continues to gain traction.

In the article titled “Why has the #MeToo revolution spared Woody Allen?” Winslet got a shout-out specifically, as Farrow compared comments she made about Allen with those made about Harvey Weinstein.

Winslet praised the “incredibly brave” women for coming forward against Weinstein and said she was “deeply shocked” by their allegations, but said that with Allen, she was willing to separate the art from the artist in order to work with the “incredible” director.

Allen was never convicted of a crime, and has long denied Dylan’s allegations.

“Of course I did not molest Dylan,” he wrote in 2014. “I loved her and hope one day she will grasp how she has been cheated out of having a loving father and exploited by a mother more interested in her own festering anger than her daughter’s well-being.”

The director wed Soon-Yi Previn in 1997, a union that also garnered controversy, as Previn is the adopted daughter of Allen’s ex-wife Mia Farrow.
